About the Green Beetle Trout Fly
The Green Beetle is a good imitation of the natural that rides low in the water. These are common food sources for trout, especially when they inadvertently get blown into the water by a sudden breeze.
The beetle's body is made of foam for buoyancy, with peacock herl on the underside and sparse brown hackle.
Expert Tip:
Focus on fishing areas where beetle activity exists, such as along grassy banks and overhanging vegetation where they could naturally fall-in.
The fly can be fished with a twitching retrieve to mimic the erratic movement of a beetle trapped in the surface of the water.
